This is a really interesting recipe…I might Blanche the cauliflower crumbles just to go easier on my digestion and the addition of dried cherries and sumac just make it one to clip for the books!

Love this issue, Elizabeth. I am a devoted list maker. My husband likes to say of me, “If it’s not on the list, it doesn’t exist.” My whole life is contained in many, many lists in my notes app. If I ever lost all those notes, I’d have to start my life from scratch. 😂

I adore your clipping files. Years ago, as a magazine-aholic, I tried to save clippings in an organized manner. But I was terrible at the maintenance of it and so, when moving to a new house, I forced myself to get rid of the folders and the stacks of magazines. So many ideas and possibilities in the garbage bin! But of course, the next idea is always right around the corner.

And mmmm… tart cherries, sumac, chili, and almonds! So many of my favorite flavors!

Exactly—no shortage of brilliant ideas in the ether… and somehow, the ones with staying power always seem to resurface (the power of a "classic"!).

That salad would be perfect for your no-cook sailing summer. It keeps really well. I’ll continue to play around with the amount of vinegar, as I found it a bit puckery first time out (I’ve already reduced the amount in the posted recipe).

I might make it a bit less puckery for whoever else I was cooking for but make it extra puckery for me!

Well then you should know the original recipe called for a 1/3 c. vinegar 😂

I've been jonesing for the Rubbermaid Brilliance line, both in glass and plastic--the plastic for the convenience of transporting food and brining my lunch to work. Both glass and plastic share the same lids, they're stackable and the good folks at Serious Eats say they don't retain food odors (big ✅for me).

Your are prompting me to replace my motley crew of plastic containers stat for these!

Yes to lists! Just recently purged a bin in the garage that held clippings, old ticket stubs, and such. It was hard (and I did keep a few things) but there was honestly no reason to hang on to it. And I’m not the same person I was when I collected all of it, truthfully. It was fun to look through one last time though!

I agree! I But it is fun to remember how we once were, what was once important or meaningful. There’s a lightness that comes from letting go…

Yes, definitely a lightness! A friend listens to a decluttering podcast and is following their steps. She mentioned that when you get rid of things you not only free up physical space but mental space as well. Because now you don’t have to manage or think about the stuff anymore.

Love a list. LOVE a list!

And I really related to the clippings aspect too. I have three folders in my garage that I haven't looked at it year but simply cannot bring myself to get rid of!

Interestingly I wrote a 101 list in my twenties. I recently found it and had to revise it a bit. Partly because I had done some of it. But also, because some of it just wasn't relevant to me anymore. A pair of Christian Laboutin heels no longer has the hold it once did!

This is why we are friends! I am also a list person and make one everyday (not the weekends tho) and a larger one for the year!

So true that tbe aspirations we had in our 20s can seem so unimportant now. It’s an interesting idea to not only do a list but revisit it at milestone birthdays.

101 years! That sounds like such a luxury! And now I'm tempted to make a list or two...

I think it can be both a luxury and a curse, Barb. It’s the list that’s the thing! 🥰

I enjoyed this peek into what makes you tick. I come from a long line of list-making clip artists. My parents sent clippings in every letter they wrote me. I’ve kept a few but do my best to live the code: LESS IS MORE 🥴

Your project is benefiting from those impulses! My eldest sister was famous for sending people clippings she thought would be of interest or that made her think of that person. It is one of the many thoughtful things she did that I miss deeply.

And speaking of accumulation—did you buy the Nancy Drew??
