Melissa Kelly of Primo is one of my favorite potager garden chefs. Food is a territory we should not let moral weights encroach on- it’s our job to find inspiration and foodstuffs that don’t require rarity and dollars- that gives everyone opportunity to make their choices of how to invest. Great post!
Wow, Elizabeth. What a beautiful post, covering so much in such a gentle way. Grateful to be mentioned and thank you for the other recommendations too. I shall be checking everyone out.
Thank you dear Shell. It really is something I’ve been thinking about for a while now and I so appreciate how other writers are approaching this very real issue.
Thank you, dear Elizabeth. I am touched and humbled by your words. I am a fan of Naomi Duguid, so being in her company and endorsed by you feels wonderful.
I think that talking about beauty and spreading joy whilst being fully aware of our privilege is a tough act. But providing that kind of balance to all the horrors of our world is so important. That's how we resist.
The warm soup time is already here. I am always up for some sunshine in a bowl and will add this recipe to my repertoire.
Amela, I am such a fan of your writing that I want to share it far and wide! It is an honour for us to share in your wisdom and perspective. I hope we will be able to meet soon 💕
Such an elegant soup recipe! I’m going to have to try this with the late season corn we’re getting. And thanks for the recommendation of Amela Marin - wow! Such an interesting newsletter that brings a perspective we all need to hear.

I so agree Ellen. We have too much else to weigh us down to let morality be the robber of joy 🥰
Thank you for the newsletter recommendations! Will check out.
PS: just noticed the footnote—you’re the best!
🥰
A great piece, Elizabeth. It does feel very hard to find that balance. And I also agree on the judgment issue you bring up.
Thank you Giovanna— I really appreciate your kind words 💕
Thank you, Elizabeth, for this beautiful post and for the kind mention. I'm so grateful to have met you! 🧡
As I am, Beth! 💕
What a beautiful reflection on the power and importance of food. And we'll definitely be making the soup.
Thank you Barb 💕. You will also love Amela’s Substack—such beautiful writing.
