Thank you for sharing this moving and beautiful story. The love and joy you carry are a testament to the light that she brought into your life, both in name and in spirit. That light now shines through you, illuminating everyone around you. Your beauty is a reflection not only of your mother (you do look like her), but also of Lucia.

Elizabeth Pizzinato's avatar

I feel her always and am very blessed to have had her in my life. Thank you for reading dear Amela 💕

Oh, such a pleasure to get to know you, at least through writing.

Elizabeth, thank you for sharing your loving memories of your sister, Lucia. The way you’ve described her, she shared her namesake ray of light to you and all that’s around. The snack recipe is so precious and delicious too. May Lucia live on through our memories, watching over you and your loved ones. Big hugs

Thank you so much Aki—I feel her presence always 💕

Thank you for sharing Lucia with us all. From the vintage cocktail glasses to her signature floralwear, you’ve captured her spirit and persona so well I feel as if I’ve met her.

That makes me very happy Amie, and what I was hoping for. Sharing her light keeps Lucia very present for me and my sister Paula 💕

Your beautiful story, thoughts and memories bring back the beauty and uniqueness of the brother I lost many years ago. We must keep telling these stories and sharing their brightness to the world. All the things they were and all the things they gave us, those immaterial things, are part of the magic of what made us us. Thank you for sharing this, dear Elizabeth, and bringing mine back up to the surface. May her memory forever be a blessing 💜

Jamie, I remember Michael very well through the many stories, photos and recollections you have shared about him through the years. You have captured beautifully why these living memories are so very important. We are the magic of our collective memories and the people who shaped them.

Oh Elizabeth! What a moving and gorgeous post about your sister and the relationship you enjoyed with her. I've never had a sister and have always been envious of those who do for all the reasons you write about here. Such a special bond you have with both of yours. And those trips!!

Elizabeth Pizzinato's avatar

Thank you so much Betty. This was really one straight from my heart. Funnily enough I just read a post yesterday from someone who is estranged from her sisters—it’s a reminder to never take for granted the binds we have.

Reading this beautiful tribute to Lucia shows how the love and memories you all shared continue to live on through you — it’s such a powerful reminder to hold close the time we have with the people who matter most. And I am grateful Nova Scotia made the cut of a few of the many places you visited together.

Elizabeth Pizzinato's avatar

Nova Scotia was one of our favourite trips—Cape Breton is one of the places I love most in the world. Hard to believe that was nearly 20 years ago!

What a BEAUTIFUL post in memory of your sister! Your sister really lived true to her name. And I absolutely loved seeing the pictures of you sisters. Such luminance. I have had a loss in my life and reaching a stage where you can smile in memory of the dear one is such a milestone. This post proves that, Elizabeth. Thank you for sharing this story with us.

Thank you so much Annada. I am so glad that more people have gotten to know Lucia through this post.

One of the great gifts that Lucia’s loss gave me was how to give space to those who are grieving—the understanding that in simply asking, “How are you, really?”, we are giving the gift of space to breathe to the other person, to, for a moment, feel the sadness alongside the compassion we’re offering.

I wish you peace in your own journey of loss ❤️

It fills our soul to put on paper reflections on the special people in our lives who are no longer with us. It’s something we should all do more.

And this is what I meant when I said I was truly embracing the personal here ❤️.
