One of the great gifts that Lucia’s loss gave me was how to give space to those who are grieving—the understanding that in simply asking, “How are you, really?”, we are giving the gift of space to breathe to the other person, to, for a moment, feel the sadness alongside the compassion we’re offering.

Nova Scotia was one of our favourite trips—Cape Breton is one of the places I love most in the world. Hard to believe that was nearly 20 years ago!
